Gastric Juice secretes hydrochloric acid, mucus and enzymes calle pepsjn and lipase. Hydrochloric acid makes the medium acidic for pepsin to act on proteins and kills the bacteria. Mucus protects the inner lining of stomach from the action of hydrochloric acid. Pepsin helps in digesting the proteins and breaks them into amino acids. Lipase helps in digesting emulsified fats and breaks them into fatty acids or glycerol.
