1) Acting as a short term credit institution - IMF acts as a short term credit institution by financing the countries who are in the economic difficulties. This fund can be used by the country to improve its conditions and strive futher in the international front.
2) To facilitate expansion of balanced growth of international trade :- This is the most important function of this body. Imagine there's a country where there is a burst of funds and there is another one where the citizens are dying by starvation. IMF makes unity in all the countries.
3) Determining value of country's currency - As discussed in the above point IMF needs all the countries to be developed. Just think that the value of dollar touched Rs 100 how dismal would that situation be. Therefore, it determines value of currency by altering it.
