There is a major role of railways in promoting tourism in the country because of the following reasons :
- it helps in transporting people and also acts as a guide . t allows people to visit different places , promoting tourism at a large scale .
- there has been increase of 23.5 per cent during the year 2004 as against the year 2003 and contributed RS. 21,828 crore of foreign exchange .
- Indian Railways provides services, amenities, facilities and tourism packages to the international and domestic tourists besides launching of tourist and special trains for promoting tourism.
- freight and passenger, thereby contributing to economic growth and promotion of national integration.
