Indigenous knowledge system (also called local innovation/knowledge system), is considered as spark plug in the agricultural innovation (considering the fact that it combines, traditional practices with the available knowledge + the institutional dimension of this knowledge, i.e. social settings and learning processes). So, involving, joint experimentation by farmers, extension agents and research scientists in African agriculture will largely improve the effectiveness of advice provision or co-construction. Therefore, systems need to encourage a readiness to communicate scientific findings and learn from local knowledge.
