In the power sharing arrangement prescribed by the Constitution of India, the Judiciary acts as the the custodian of the Constitutional provisions and procedures. It makes sure that the power is shared between the Union and State Governments and one does not encroach upon the rights of the other. In case of any dispute between the Union and the States, the High Courts and the Supreme Court adjudicate the matter. Their verdict is binding on both parties. Hence, the judiciary plays a pivotal role in the power sharing arrangment in India.
