The role of mainframe-centric model in client/server computing:

  • The ‘mainframe-centric model’ always uses the presentation ability of the workstation to the existing front end applications.
  • The character mode interface can be remapped by the products such as Mozart and Easel.
  • Similar data can be entered or displayed via pull down lists, check boxes, buttons, and scrollable fields.
  • Here the UI is easy to use and the information is presented in a clear format. In this model, the mainframe applications continue to run unmodified.
