What is the role of mass communication in present day life?

Mass communication helps in spreading messages to a large number of people at the same time as the name suggests. Mass communication can be extremely useful at times even though we don't have an example that happened recently. But we can see that at the time of independence  Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru used mass communication to address the whole country. Modern day examples of mass communication are Television, Radio, etc.
