Cell membrane or plasma membrane is lippo protein in nature. Some protein molecules are embedded either partially or completely within the lipid bilayers. Some carbohydrates molecule maybe attached to the protein or lipid molecules.
FUNCTIONS
●being selectively permeable it allows only certain substances to pass through it.
●it bounds the semi-fluid content of the cell.
●it protects the inner contents and helps in maintaining the internal environment of the cell

The plasma membrane, or the cell membrane, provides protection for a cell. It also provides a fixed environment inside the cell. And that membrane has several different functions. One is to transport nutrients into the cell and also to transport toxic substances out of the cell.
