What is the role of saliva in digestion? I wrote it is having an enzyme called salivary amylase which mix The food thoroughly for digestion! But after writing exam Hearing the fact that it's not true. Anyway I'm confused please answer

Saliva is present in mouth and helps to covert starch into sugar, also kills germs and makes the food watery so that it can pass in easily.

Salivary amylase actually cleans the food and coverts starch into sugar.

govindaj3: I can't find any teacher who put 1/2 marks for wrong atleast that answer should be somewhat or somewhere correct to get 1/2 marks
