Reflex means it is the sudden reaction of the spinal cord and not the brain for something we must react suddenly like if you put your hand on a hot pan, it gets burnt so you get your hand very quickly, it is the spinal cord which has a lot of nerves send sudden messages to the nerves of the affected area( in the example your hand) then you will quickly take out your hand so as I said the brain has nothing to do with the reflex action, the spinal cord is responsible for it
