Double fertilization . The production of 2 sperm nuclei, both of which contribute to fertilization. ... The other unites with both of the polar nuclei or with the secondary (definitive) nucleus formed by their fusion, to form the primary endosperm nucleus, from which the endosperm develops.

definitive nucleus. The diploid nucleus found in the centre of the *embryo sac after the fusion of the two haploid *polar nuclei. A male gamete released from the pollen tube may fuse with this to form the triploid primary endosperm nucleus from which the endosperm develops. See also double fertilization.
