The diary had a very important role in Anne's life. Everyone needs atleast one shoulder on whom we can rely on in every situation, whether good or bad. This requirement is fulfilled by a true friend. But she had no true friend to whom she could share her feelings. But she could pour out all her feelings to her diary. Hence it fulfilled the need of a close and trustworthy friend in her life.
