Immune system is the defence mechanism of the body. White blood cells or leukocytes are the 'soldiers of the body.'
Whenever a foreign particle (for e.g, virus, bacteria etc) enters the body, it starts an immune response. They spot the antigen (i.e bacteria, virus etc),
and begin to secrete antibodies. Antibodies seal or mark the antigen.
Phagocytes are another special set of cells which eat up or kill the antigen. Killer T cells are also cells which kill or attack other cells. They usually attack viruses. These Killer T cells and phagocytes recognize these marked antigens and kill them, thereby, protecting the body from diseases.
