The judge acts like an umpire of the game and conducts all trials impartially and in public view. The judge listens to the the evidences and witnesses presented by the defence and prosecution. The judge decides whether the accused is guilty or not on the basis of these evidences. If the accused is found to be guilty then the judge pronounces a sentence. The accused could be jailed or fined or both in accordance with whatever the law prescribes.
