============================================
The Sun and the weather. The energy that the Earth receives from the Sun is the basic cause of our changing weather. Solar heat warms the huge air masses that comprise large and small weather systems. ... However, at higher altitudes, the atmosphere reacts strongly to changes in solar activity.

The Sun has a strong effect on all the weather and the climatic conditions that prevail on Earth. The sun as we know, is a huge ball or sphere of hot gases with extremely high temperature. The Earth gets heated by the sun rays falling on it. The rays fall vertically on the equator and makes this region the hottest. As we move away from the equator the sunrays and amount of heat become slanting and hence they recieve less heat. This makes this region cooler than the equatorial region. The polar region are the coldest regions of the Earth and most of this area remains frozen throughout the year as the sun rays recieved by this region is slanting and thus very less.The length of the days is longer in equatorial region and decreases as we move far.
