the membrane that surrounds the large vacuole in a mature plant cell it is also known as vacuolar membrane . it's main function is to protect the vacuole & isolate it from harmful substances.it also controls​ ionic movement in and around the cell. it also regulate the flow of water in and out of the vacuole...

ROLES OF TONOPLAST

》Tonoplast provides protection to the cell.

》It separates the contents of vacuole from the cell's cytoplasm.

》It is a semi-permeable membrane which regulates the movement of ions in and out of the cell.
