What is the role of water in weathering of rocks?

as when the water gets into the rock it creates space in the rock and humidity. due to humidity the rock is softened and its particles are scattered to make soil.

Weathering is the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earths surface.

Water waves comes and hits rock near sea or any where . when the water and air both strike the rock in and angle or a certain direction sometimes leads to breaking down of rock or making shapes of it.
