the rule of writting chemical formula is...all u have to know the valancey of the elements then interchange with eachother..for instance water....H₂O ..in water hydrogen n oxygen is present ...valancey of hydrogen is 1 and valancey of oxygen is 2 ...the valancies got interchanged and formed H₂O or water

this can be by dimensions checking of LHS and RHS of formula if dimensionally wrong , then formula must be wrong. if dimensionally correct then formula maybe correct .

example :- E = mc² is a formula given by Einstein. we check this is dimensionally correct or not ?
LHS = E =energy
dimension of energy =[ ML²T-²]

RHS =mc² = mass × velocity ²

dimensions of mc² = [M][L²T-²] =[ML²T-²]

LHS = RHS

so, this formula, may be correct.
but if we choose
E = mc

LHS = energy = [ML² T-²]

RHS = mass× velocity = [MLT^-1 ]

LHS ≠ RHS
this formula is wrong because this is dimensionally wrong .
so, now in this way you can check formula
