Saliva is a sticky substance that is present on our tongue it contains many enzymes one of the enzyme is the salivary amylase which helps in the digestion of starch..... due to saliva the food get mixed with it and therefore it becomes sticky and then that food passes through our oesophagus and then the digestion occurs
