The scattering of light in different directions due to small particles present in air is known as scattering of light.
At sunrise and sunset, the sun is at horizon so light has to travel max distance to reach earth and during it journey bluish colours scatter and only reddish remains so sun appear reddish.
Sky appears blue due to the scattered blue colours!
