Explanation:

Entangled particles are created like that—they are product of a single event, and therefore described by a single wave function. So when we measure one of them, we instantly know what parameters the other one shall have—as that’s the point when the wave function collapses.

Why is that so—what’s the underlaying cause of the particles being what they are and behaving as they do—remains, to my knowledge, unknown. Yet, that doesn’t mean that we can’t find out. People certainly try—see e.g. string theory. The problem is with feasibility of experimental verification/falsifying of such theories.
