What is the scientific phenomena used in catching a cricket ball?Explain.

When catching a cricket ball the player pulls his hands backwards. This increase the time taken by increasing the the time taken by the ball to attain zero gravity, which decrease the acceleration (retardation in this case). As acceleration decreases, the force (which is directly proportional to acceleration) decreases. This reduces the chances of injury. In this process, Newton's Second Law of Motion comes in work
