Reflex actions are sudden, involuntary reactions of the body in response to stimuli. They occur without the involvement of the conscious areas of the brain. Therefore, all reflex actions are unconscious actions. Somatic nervous system is responsible for reflex arcs.

The benefits of reflex action are as follows: Animals defend themselves from adverse conditions without any delay. Any type of burden (while thinking) or load is not felt by the brain. Very often we save ourselves from serious actions through reflex action.

A reflex, or reflex action, is an involuntary and nearly instantaneous movement in response to a stimulus. A reflex is made possible by neural pathways called reflex arcs which can act on an impulse before that impulse reaches the brain.
