what is the shape of SO3 , CO3^-2, NO3^-1

plx explain how with Lewis dot structure .. m very confused at this

rakeshmohata: triangular प्लानर.
rakeshmohata: triangular planar. I think so..
rakeshmohata: will explain it later.. in college.. bye
GarimaNewly: ya i know the ans but how can u plz explain it on a paper
GarimaNewly: okk
rakeshmohata: where do I post the pic?
GarimaNewly: u can Attach it with your answer
rakeshmohata: but where to answer?

SO₃, CO₃²⁻ and NO₃⁻ are all Triangular planar in shape.

Their Lewis structures are in the attachment below↓↓

Hope it helps!!

GarimaNewly: in So3 2 lonepair are left but in trigonal to shape only 1 lone pair is present
GarimaNewly: and in CO3 ^-2 there is no lone pair left so how it is trigonal planner in geometry
siril: See, when there is no lone pair left and there are 3 bond pairs, then the shape is called trigonal planar
siril: in SO3 there is no lone pair
siril: on the central atom sulphur
siril: In all of the above, there is no lone pair on the central atom,
siril: There are only 3 bond pairs, which is the reason for trigonal planar geometry
GarimaNewly: ohh but in my book there is written the compound which have 2 bond pair and 1 lone pair exhibit trigonal planner geometry
GarimaNewly: ill recheck it omce
GarimaNewly: ohh i got it ... thanks for ur answer and explaination
