The easiest way to split the term is take the middle term, I will show you with an example. x²+5x+6
See, the middle term is 5 here. Now you see the constant that is 6, split 6 into its factors such that the sum or the difference of the constant comes as 5. Like, factors of 6 are 2 and 3 now it can be written as
x²+2x+3x+6
⇒x(x+2)+3(x+2)
⇒(x+3)(x+2)
