Side effects of Methanol are :-

1. Consumption of even small amount of methanol may cause ill effect to your health by poisoning.

2.  Methanol digests in our body and forms formaldehyde and acids like methanoic acid which causes toxicity and poisons our body.

3. Methanol can take the life of a person by damaging his/her's Central Nervous System.

4. Methanol is a highly combustible product which may cause fire and explode very easily.

5. Breathing methanol can even cause irritation and cause severe weakness resulting in weakness and vomiting.

6.  The formic acid (same as methanoic acid) produced by methanol may affect the cells in the optic nerve which can lead to permanent blindness.
