The blanket of air that surrounds the earth is known as atmosphere. Atmosphere consists of many gases. Atmospheric nitrogen is converted into nitrogenious compounds which maintains the fertility of soil. We use Oxygen present in atmosphere to breathe. Carbon dioxide is used up during photosynthesis . Atmosphere also maimtains the temperature of the earth. It doesn't allow the earth to heat up too much during the day and doesn't allow the earth to become too cold at night.Atmosphere has ozone gas present in it which doesn't allow the harmful and Ultraviolet Radiations to reach the surface of the Earth.
