what is the significance of Bastille in the history of france ​

Built in 1300's. Designed to protect the eastern entrance of city of Paris..It was a symbolic overthrow of royal power because French people were starying , overtaxed. Due to this phenomenon people were mentally and physically distrubed. So they stormed on Bastille.
