• Keeps the text organised- It is important for texts to be cohesive because only cohesion can ensure that the text follows one direction of thought.

        - For example, in case of an opinion essay, you need to either agree or disagree with the topic. You cannot agree in one line and disagree in the next one. Following one line of thought is achieved only because of cohesion.

• Helps in clear communication- If a text is not cohesive, it will cause distraction and confusion. Only a cohesive text can ensure clear communication.

      -For example, if you are writing a paragraph about your friend, and you suddenly start talking about how your computer freezes at times, the reader will obviously get confused. That is because your laptop has nothing to do with your friend. So, it is not a cohesive text and is not pleasant to read either.
