Damodar Valley project is a Multi purpose project often called "sorrow of Bengal" As it incurred huge costs on the Bengal government. But it was built on the River Damodar,and served more than just Controlling water velocity and Acceleration. Thus stopped floods.

It also acts as a tourist spot and brings in Tourism funding for the government and is also a major fishery.

But disadvantages,

It displaced marine life,Animal life and human villages causing distress. Also inviting huge funding.
