Jawarharlal Nehru through his will requested that upon death his ashes be mixed with river Ganga and Indian soil. Nehru never recognised with any religion and, therefore, his request regarding the Ganga might suggest otherwise because the Ganga holds special value in Hinduism. However, the reasons stated in Nehru’s will places the Ganga as an Indian symbol and his mixing with the river and soil makes him forever a part of India.
