Crop rotation is the practice of growing two or more different crops on the same land alternatively, the crops are grown in such a way that the nutrient requirement of one plant is ful-filled by the other.
Leguminous plants has a bacteria in their root nodules, commonly known as rhizobium bacteria. This bacteria turns the free atmospheric nitrogen into soluble form so that the nitrogen can be easily absorbed by the roots of plants along with water.
Rabi crops like wheat is grown is rabi season (winter season). These crops require a lot of nitrogen from the soil for germination. If the farmers grow kharif crops like pea or beans (leguminous plants) after rabi season then the soil can be naturally replenished.
This is the significance of growing legume crops in crop rotation.
