The cells Juxtaglomerular apparatus (JGA) contain an enzyme called renin that can estimate blood pressure.
When glomerular blood flow or pressure becomes low, juxtaglomerular cells are activated to release renin.
Renin converts the angiotensinogen present in blood into angiotensin I and subsequently further into angiotensin
IISignificance: JGA is located in between afferent arteriole and the distal convoluted tubule of a particular nephron.
This location is highly critical for enabling its function in regulating renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate.
