Karewas or Vudr in Kashmiri are plateau like terraces in Kashmir. They have a lot of significance because of the following reasons :
1. They are treasure house of fruits in valley.
2. They are extensively fluvioglacial, fluvial, lacustrine and eolian in origin.
3. Apple and Saffron cultivation is most favorable on this type of land-form.
4. There are no chances of flood, so no damage to crops and apple trees.
5. The soil is fertile and suitable for fruit plantation.
