The significance of ozone layer:-

  • Ozone is found in two different parts of our atmosphere.
  • The stratospheric ozone layer absorbs ultraviolet (UV) radiation, preventing dangerous UV rays from hitting Earth's surface and harming living organisms.
  • Ozone protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the Sun.
  • Without the Ozone layer in the atmosphere, life on Earth would be very difficult. Plants cannot live and grow in heavy ultraviolet radiation, nor can the planktons that serve as food for most of the ocean life.

Answer:

Ozone layer i.e O3 is the outermost layer of earth that protects our earth from harmful UV radiations that fall or come from sun. If there was no ozone layer than UV rays are that much dangerous that they can cause skin cancer too. Ozone layer is made up of 3 molecule of oxygen as oxygen is never seen alone it combines with other oxygen to form ozone layer. UV rays are increasing day by day and our ozone layer is also depleting and a hole is been observed which has not yet cause any harm to humans.
