About the Poem -

The poem 'Fire and Ice' is a symbolic poem. Here fire represents the excessive passion for conflict, greed, fury, avarice, etc. But Ice stands for excessive coldness, hatred, and indifference. The poet of the poem wants to convey the idea of negative and excessive passion like hatred and anger might cause the end of the world. We must save the world from these.

Significance of the poem -

Well, it gives no explicit message. It has two terms - Fire and Ice. Our world is threatened by fire(anger, greed etc) and ice(indifference, hatred). So we are the one who can save the world being destroyed by these passions. We should remove the negative feeling and live happily with everyone. Only fire of love can mollify fire and melt ice.
