What is the significance of the second battle of tarain?
Answers
In the second battle of Tarain, Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated by Mohammed Ghori. This defeat could have been avoided if Jaichandra of Kannauj had joined forces with Prithviraj. However, Jaichandra, still angry at the abduction of his daughter, refused to come to Prithviraj Chauhan help. This battle is believed to be a turning point in the history of India. The reason for the battles of Tarain was because when Mohammed Ghori became governor of the province of Ghazni, he conquered Multan, Peshawar and Lahore. This brought into conflict with Prithviraj Chauhan of Delhi.
