The Slaters had had an eye on grandfather's bureau for a long time. When Elizabeth learnt that grandfather was dead, she thought of bringing the bureau down from grandfather's room. She felt that her sister would take the bureau, so it was better to bring it in the hall. But when grandfather wakes up, the truth is out that Elizabeth had stolen the bureau.
