Answer:
In the poem "The Cold Within" a group of 6 people stranded in a place in freezing cold in front of a dying fire are brilliantly portrayed.
In this situation each one had one stick each which could refuel the dying fire which would ultimately keep them alive. The dying fire here signifies the dying humanity inside them as they do not give their sticks to the dying fire because of their prejudice against people of other caste, race and religion. The poem ends with each of them dying with the line "They didn't die from the cold without They died from the cold within."
So by this line the poet wants to say that if only they had risen above the petty barriers of caste, creed and religion the outer cold couldn't have killed them but because of the coldness in their hearts they did not provide the log to the dying fire and hence died due to the cold within them.
Hence, the title is appropriate.
