Vacuoles are present in the plant cells prominently and occupy large spaces in the cell such that the nucleus is secluded to a corner of the cell..
In animal cells it is either absent or very small and has no major role to play.

In plant cells vacuoles are responsible for turgidity...as it can hold a large quantity of water..
