Banana is a perennial herb like plant, grows by a common Rhizome called a genet/stool and the leaves form into a false trunt(Pseudostem) which can extend from below the soil to its neck as plant leaf sheath, and there after as Midrib with two blades calls foliage, even over 2- 22 feet in length/height! The widest part of such a leaf may be over 20–24 inches.

The width of sheath may be varying, the outer one with large width and inside most one just a few inches as the leaf inside the stem may be like a Cigar, rolled, and the young shoot is called a Cigar!

The color of the leaf also varies from species to species(over 1000 varieties exist) and from season to season. A green plant from tropics if transplanted to Canada will become dark red/maroon like many other trees in winter and stop growing in height. The leaves will curl like a cabbage! Wll be tender, and are even edible like the cigars eaten by many in Far east.

The cigar roll. get unfurled under good sun light in about 7–10 days fully.

The leaves are used for packing, eating when Tender(!),used as plates for serving and eating food by hand in Asia,as fodder, the sheaths for producing Banana silk, decorative items and ropes, toys,Making Rayon or paper by converting into Pulp. The inside PITH which brings out the flowers and the Bananas, is a food item like vegetable, the fiber is very thin and used as silk and used as raw material in ATC medicnes as natural Fiber(!).

For comparison with Mango Leaves, for what ever reason, except that both have chlorophyll, there is no similarity. Trees have totally different shape, size and other qualities like strength and harness, size of leaves differ totally. Even tender mango leaves may be like some varieties of Banana., leaves in maroon/purple.

The purpose of comparison, and identifying similarities or differences,is baffling!
