what is the similarities between speed and velocity

nivedh395pa9m9n: The rate of changing in distance is called speed and the rate of changing in displacement is called as velocity

Both the terms are use for representing motion.

nivedh395pa9m9n: bro I asked aims and objectives you know??
JOELWILSON2004: AIMS IS THE FIRST ONE AND THE ONE BELOW OBJECTIVES U SHOULD KNOW
nivedh395pa9m9n: I have another question
JOELWILSON2004: dude put in the question bank
nivedh395pa9m9n: What I don't understand what u say!

Speed and velocity are essentially the same thing. However, technically, speed is simply the instantaneous magnitude of velocity. Velocity is a vector and also adds direction into the picture. Because of its vector properties, velocity can exhibit certain results that can ever be seen by simply measuring speed. For example, velocity can change from a positive to a negative number if the object reverses its direction of travel, i.e. negative velocity. Speed, however, can never be negative.
