Both the molecules of Acetyl Co-A enter mitochondria and then the Kreb cycle starts. The acetyl part of acetyl co-a gets completely oxidised.

The first stable compound of kreb's cycle is citric acid. Chemically citric acid is called tricarboxylic acid. Hence it is called as tricarboxylic acid cycle or TCA cycle.
