Essentially, the chloroplast is an independent fully functional organelle. Although all the green parts of a plant can carry out photosynthesis, it mainly occurs in the leaves due to the high abundance of chloroplasts. A chloroplast contains stroma, fluid, and stack of thylakoids called grana.
