what is the situation of water in saidapet

Answer:
CHENNAI: Udaya S, who runs a small business at Little Mount, doesn't bathe every day to save water so that his son can go to school neat and tidy.
As the water coming through taps and sumps has begun to run dry, he was among the many families that staged a protest at Saidapet on Friday morning against Metrowater.
This water stressed situation first affects people in the lower income groups and working class. “People who are rich can buy water, but where will the poor go?” asks Udaya. “And I must take bath at least once in two days, else the school will ask my son ‘why are your parents dirty?’”
Several residents are enduring sporadic water cuts. Water service lasts only for a couple of hours for some while it is once in two days for others. Yet another group of residents won’t get water for several days.
Since water levels have dropped by more than one-tenth in the city’s four reservoirs -- Poondi, Cholavaram, Red Hills and Chembarambakkam -- in the last one week, Metrowater has asked Chennaiites to reduce water consumption.
