If we plot a graph against the position and time of a stationery object it will be a st. line parallel to x axis so we can say slope is zero.

the principle is that slope of the line on a position - time graph is equal to the velocity of the object. if the object is moving with a velocity of +4m/s , then the slope of the line will be +4m/s.
