This is an equation of parabola

the slope at any point (a,b) is given by dy/dx .

dy/dx = 2x

[dy/dx] at (a,b) = 2(a)

generally slope is a characteristic of a straight line. we dont have slope for a curve.we will have gradient to a curve at a given point.

 \frac{dy}{dx} = 2x

2x can be taken as slope for this question
