Answer:

A number is divisible by 3 if its sum of digits is divisible by 3

for example :(i) 345 => 3+4+5 =12

12 is divisible by 3 so, 345 is divisible by 3

(ii) 344 => 3+4+4 =11

11 is not divisible by 3 so, 344 is not divisible by 3

Here, the number given is 346, sum of digits is => 3+4+6=13

13 is not divisible by 3..so the smallest number that will make 346 divisible:

(i) if we add 1 : 346+1=347

Sum of digits: 3+4+7 = 14 (not divisible by 3)

(ii) if we add 2: 346+2=348

sum of digits: 3+4+8 = 15 (divisible by 3)

Hence, the the smallest number that needs to be added to make 346 divisible by 3 is 2.
