The smallest unit of memory in a computer is a 'BIT'. It is a binary digit i.e. single 1 or 0. The units goes like bit, nibble, byte, kilobyte (KB), megabyte (MB), and then GB, TB and so on...

Hope my answer is satisfactory...

SAGNIK1111: Is it correct? Byte is the smallest unit of memory, not bit. Bit is the smallest unit of data In a computer for computing and telecommunications.
hates2904: yes it's correct. it further becomes byte..
