Answer:

A solenoid is a type of electromagnet, the purpose of which is to generate a controlled magnetic field through a coil wound into a tightly packed helix. The coil can be arranged to produce a uniform magnetic field in a volume of space when an electric current is passed through it.

Answer:

A coil with many circular close turns of insulated copper wire like a cylinder is a solenoid. when current is passed one end of such a solenoid behaves like the north pole and the other as a south pole just like a magnet. The magnetic field due to current in the solenoid is similar to a bar magnet. The magnetic fields always emerge out of the North pole and always merge into the South pole.
